this type of transformers, its core had been made from amorphous  metal alloy which have very high magnetic characteristics which help on reducing core losses. and hence higher efficiency.

Compared to conventional transformers, amorphous core transformers have- low core losses, low magnetizing current, less zero sequence current, less noise, higher inrush current, more harmonic problem, bigger size, higher initial cost, higher efficiency, and longer life.

it mainly used where its inertial cost compared to lifetime is reasonable

An amorphous transformer is a distribution transformer.                                                               Its magnetic core is made of amorphous steel (a better grade of steel with lower specific losses W/kg ; loss is about one-third that of CRGO silicon steel).                                                        Given the that the manufacturing technology of handling this brittle material is difficult, its use in transformers is not widespread.

amorphous transformer is energy efficient transformer.it is called amorphous because its core is made of amorphous metal alloy.Mainly it is used in power distribution.

is made with a ferromagnetic amorphous metal. The typical material is an alloy of iron with boron, silicon, and phosphorus in the form of thin (e.g25 µm) foils.

it is used in over head transmission line ..

Amorphous Transformers use an amorphous alloy (amorphous alloys have excellent electrical characteristics but requires advanced techniques of machining) in their Iron Cores. Due to this amorphous alloy, Electric characteristics of transformers increases and reduces energy losses significantly. Core losses and Iron losses are minimum in these transformers. These are distribution transformers. Most commonly used in USA and Japan.

Amorphous Transformer core is manufactured with the metal alloy ( iron + boron, silicon and phosphorus) . Generally it is used in HV distribution station @  >66KV at low power factor (due to energy efficient one).

Amorphous transformers are high efficient types which are made of amorphous iron metal core where it got its name. Typical applications of which are for power distribution which had capacity of 50KVA to 1MVA.

Amorphous Transformers or AMT are made up of Amorphous metal which has the unique property of high magnetic susceptibility, high electrical resistance and low coercivity. This helps to lower down the eddy current losses hence higher efficiency.

These are mainly used in grid distribution transformers of 50-1000kva
