Boredom at work is cancerous condition we need to eradicate it immediately otherwise it will be ending up with bad results.   Normally if a staff doesn't like his job or from years he is doing the same job everyday without any change it will be resulting in the boredom.  Boredom can be overcome by 1) Engaging with the other team members whenever required. 2) Be Proactive rather than reactive.

3) Open to accept change and think positive.

4) Be enthusiastic and feel fresh.

5) Make a career growth plan and share it with supervisor/manager and follow it.

6) Be available to support other staff.

7) Get together with the team and other colleagues out of the office environment.

For my answer i am interpreting the question as applying to the work place in a broader sense. Boredom affect productivity and the challenge for management is to recognise this and find ways to overcome it.

One popular way is "Gamification". As the name suggests it takes the tasks to be preformed and reorganises them into a game format designed to be fun, competitive and providing recognition for success.

The purpose of the game is to provide the motivation to win. People are linked together and their efforts recognised. People love to play games and compete. A simple strategy applied to may businesses successfully.

For an insight into what gamification is i have include a youtube link on the subject.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84Z4xEu2nwA

Thank you Inviting me to answer this Question.

If you do not enjoy what you do, then definitely boredom makes its way into your life. The same applies to work life. Once you start enjoying your work, then there would be no place for Boredom. For this, you have to find a job/ career you are passionate about or enjoy doing and then you will never feel bored even for once.

Furthermore, it is always advisable to take break during your hectic work and spend few minutes talking to your friends or colleagues or take a walk around office or alternatively take a snack break with your colleague. However, for those who feel bored because of lack of sufficient work or tasks to do, the advisable solution for them is to speak to their managers and ask them to assign you with more creative tasks or to get yourself involve in any running/ upcoming projects.

If you really sincerely wish to work, than no boredom can stop you from working.

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirit. Many thanks for your invitation to participate in answering your question of overcoming boredom in workplace. I believe there are many ways to do so; among them for example: * make a walk early morning for 30 minutes before work starts * Listen to audible books while walking * Try to share knowledge with colleagues * Try to deal with daily issues with colleagues in order to sort them out * Try to share with colleagues how to develop personality of each other to gain expertise in dealing with daily issues * Join different group of colleagues every day to have launch outside workplace * Enjoy your annual vacation every year * Try to coach colleagues * Seek training to keep you updated and to learn from other people experiences * Reading books is also a good mean to get rid of getting bored * Do not focus on a specific task for more than 90 minutes (continuous). Take a break or do another minor task and then get back to it * Always respect time; by showing up and leaving office on time; we give importance to our work If we enjoy what we are doing; boredom will fly. Thanks for inviting me for your question

Its very simple though mostly ignored by many. That is why only few become winners and rest remain an average performer

1) First of all try to understand relationship between your role and the organizational/departmental objectives/goals

2) Try to understand effect of your performance on your department/organization

3) Before starting your day list down key tasks/activities you are expected to complete that day

4) At the end of the day, see how many tasks could you complete

5)At the end of the day , ask yourself "Could I have done the tasks in a better way than what I did?" Better way could be- faster, less mistakes, more output, in a different way

6) Start the next day with previous day's experience/learnings

7) ALWAYS, have a PRIDE in WHATEVER job is assigned to you or whatever job you do. Enjoy what you do

8) I bet, you will never get bored

Day after day same monotonous routines Work and more work is that all it means From this moment onwards until I'm old, Be walking to work, rain, snow and cold Depressed and lifeless beyond belief I'll be frail and old before I find relief Tired and bleary and eyes like lead Thinking, can it be any worse if I was dead Where there are no more worries or heartache But I have to struggle with life, for family's sake So similar are the days, they all seem hazy Another 50 odd years left, I can see myself going crazy To sleep for an eternity. And wake up refreshed Ready to take on the years that are left That dream I'll have to wait for, for when I'm in my grave Knowing my luck, it'll be my old dull life that I'll crave But where there is a will ... I'll find a way I will battle up life's hill. Day after day Like many who have come and gone before me, I will survive and succeed, just wait... you'll see
