Yeah, the new instagram's feature called Stories that strongly resembles Snapchat's section of the same name.
I liked most the latest addition to the picture sharing social network lets users create ephemeral slideshows of photos, short videos and Boomerang loops that last just 24 hours. It is designed to let Instagram users show their followers what is happening "behind the scenes" of their well-manicured feeds.
Oh really I am not surprised as such Social networks are known for copying one another's most popular features. For instances Facebook introduced the feed with status updates and Twitter hashtags, both of which are now ubiquitous across platforms!!!!
I strongly believe that yes, it is an almost clone of SC but at least IG is focusing its energies on stepping up their interface game by adding more features. It is following the collectivist strategy where they are offering more features in one app while maintaining their monopolistic control over photo-sharing app industry.
Meanwhile, SC should be worried because the only functionality (core functionality) is now available on another free application meaning that they need something else to call their USP cuz clearly, IG just took theirs.
Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom wouldn’t disagree with you. When confronted about Instagram Stories being a clone of Snapchat Stories, he surprisingly admitted “They deserve all the credit,” but insisted “This isn’t about who invented something. This is about a format, and how you take it to a network and put your own spin on it".
According to my opinion Instagram is using a strategy opted by their competitors with slight added features to boost up their reputation and attain customers loyalty. Its an open market and if they have followed the same module or strategy for their platform there s nothing wrong in it till the time snapchat dont have their patent rights. Again if instagram is accepting that they have followed a certain module than again they are following the corporate ethics and this initiative should be appreciated . In todays open & competetive market business groups should encourage and help each other to grow. Its always good to have cordial relations with your competitors as both identities can grow together if they join hands in a positive manner. Share of knowledge and cordination within legal and ethical boundaries is a positive initiative. We should take this initiative of Instagram in a positive manner.
It's an effort to take on Snapchat. Probably Instagram may acquire Snapchat at some stage. Although the market is becoming a bit crowded with apps that help produce bite-sized videos (Snapchat, Vine and now Instagram).
The focus may be on providing one platform for several solutions. Instagram has a big lead on the other two in this regards, I guess).
I am wondering, is it more adding new capabilities or just imitation strategy? The winner will provide better quality and greater video length. We will see.
I think it is a desperate attempt to compete with Snapchat. Stories got great features but still lack of facial recognition with those great filters that snapchat is offering
While instagram really "widened" the potential audience (using their own subscribers) and by having simplified the interface and functionalities vs Snapchat i don't really think they will get the same kind of traction. The fact that Snapchat was not that easy to use was part of their offer. People are proud to discover the new functionalities themselves and to talk about it with their friends. Snapchat is kind os cool because the parents "don't get it" instagram cannot offer the same.. for now....
The only thing that makes it better than SnapChat is that you can actually measure your audience. Its an "in between" area of SnapChat and Periscope. You can broadcast live and you can at the same time, share story with your fellas and rest of the world.
It is a smart move as by adding this feature, Instagram covered both emerging competitors SnapChat and Periscope.
The success of Instagram Stories, the decline in Snapchat usage we've ofSnapchat the way you used to on Snapchat and can on Instagram thanks to And several sourcesthink that's leading some users to open Snapchat less overall. It's that last one that might be mostthreatening to Snap Inc's IPO.
Though it wasn't an innovation from Instagram, looking at the mass followers on Instagram as compared to Snapchat it is definitely going to affect Snapchat. It is simpler and easy for user understanding.
It's for some extent very good platform...but should be legalised.
