I am a big fan of Javascript when it comes to web application , not only because its one of the core languages that the browser uses but also it has a huge active community and its very fun to write . 

you can use a JavaScript frameworks . there are a bunch of them  but the most populars ones are

-Angular JS ( a language backed by google )

- react JS ( language backed by Facebook) .

in the server side you can still use Javascript with Node JS.
