What is Bid?

What is bidder conferences?
The bidder’s conference is a tool and technique of the “Conduct Procurements” process. And develop the procurement documents during the “Plan Procurement Management” process. It is a meeting held by a contractor for all of the vendors to whom the contractor has sent a request for proposal (RFP) or a request for bid (RFB). A bidder’s conference is a meeting that an agency will schedule upon releasing a new bid proposal. The bidder’s conference is designed to give interested and eligible vendors the chance to ask questions regarding the project. Bidder's conferences are a great way to establish report. The bidder’s conference, also called a pre-proposal conference, is usually held at the site where the work for the project will take place. Along with answering questions for potential bidders, a pre-proposal conference will give bidders the chance to visit the work site.
Prospective vendors/sellers often attend the bidder conference in order to fill in these details by asking questions regarding the product of the project. These questions often focus on issues such as the legal and financial requirements, the technical specifications of the product and the time frame for the project. They also attend bidder conferences to assess the competition and their odds of success.
Typically when we DO NOT have bidder conferences is when we have what we call "set asides". These are for small business, women owned, minority or individuals with disabilities who own companies and these are not typically for multiple awards. Research has been done to determine that there are qualified businesses in an area that can perform these set asides and thus an rfp is issued to support such business that normally would not be able to compete with your larger corporations.
