before upgration take outlook 2007 mail backup. after that remove office 2007 then fresh install 2013 outlook then reload mail backup that is already taken from outlook 2007.

At first you have to install MS Office 2013. Then you have configure outlook using old pst file. Then you will use your mail in MS Outlook 13
Option-1 Close all the files related to office then run the setup for office2013 and there we will find the upgrade option. Just simply tap on it and the setup starts to run. After the installation completes we can restart the PC/laptop. In this process the data i.e .pst file will not be lost.
Option 2 We need to take the backup of our .PST file and then uninstall the current Ms office and then install the new office 2013, after installation move to the control panel then click on email and add all account information, we will select pop type and at right side we observe browse option and from there we need to select .PST file. From there it starts storing back mails in your new office outlook.

You can install Office 2013 and have it replace an older version. You should not have to worry about the PST file. Making a backup is always a prudent step when performing a major upgrade. Many Office add-ins still have not been upgraded to 64-bit and therefore won't work with 64-bit Office. The 64-bit version can support much larger spreadsheets for one.
Microsoft does not provide a tool that upgrades the PST from ANSI to UNICODE. The safety way is to create a new UNICODE PST and move the old Outlook items to new PST files.
