Although experience & acadenic qualification are relevant in Managerial positions, there is NO standard and approved creteria for qualifying to become a Manager; the creteria varies from nation to nation, organisation to organisation, region to region or society to society.

Some are availed managerial positions based on their experience, some academic qualification, some both academic qualification & experience, some based on merit & performance while others based on relationships (friend, family, race, gender, spouses, beauty or looks) etc

It depends... In my experience I have been one of the youngest managers in the company. I think that it is not a matter of education and certain number of years experience. It's a matter of skills and personality. To be a manager means to be responsible and to be a leader, and also a solution finder. You have to be flexible and eager to learn new things fast, esp. nowadays when every company is trying to keep its customers' attention.

With Management qualification, one can aim to become MGR in 5yrs down the line. The duration is required to learn the managerial practice.

Whatever the discipline in which one hold MGR position, but learning about different people holding different profile in that discipline is not feasible in any management school but in the work place. Failure to be patient in this, will result in frequent failures / multiple slip in the near future.

There is no exact type of education or number of years for the experience to qualify as a manager. Its about your working invironment, as there is no need to be a masteral  or doctorate if you going to be a Store Manager but you have to be skilled and talented. below are the things helped me from my career :

1. what ever position you are in just do it properly as per your job descrition ... a lot of employee miss this because they always jump in to others work to be noticed and they ended up neglecting their own work.

2. Team player/leader/multi tasking .....As soon as your own task is perfectly done start helping the other.

3. Smart/thinker...... Get involve in discussion and share your ideas but never feel bad when its not been choose to do so.

4. Skills/Talent .... get involve or volunteer in other activities whether it is another task or an urgent work to be done outside your JD.

5. Know your goals in life... ask your self are you in the right working place is that what you want to do for the rest of your life? if you say happily yes then you better start working on it. because ther is no easy way, no short cut to success.

Becoming a manager is an important step towards becoming a renowed proffessional and climbing the ladder leading to upper management.

In order to become a manager, in the majority of occasions you will need to prove your quality as an employee first. Apart from that, the need for managerial knowledge apart from experience is also vital. It depends on the subject of each work position, your competition and many more relevant factors.

In my experience, educational qualifications at a postgraduate level and near 5 years of relevant experience as an employee should make you a strong candidate for a managerial position in your field of work.

It really is a multifactorial issue though and depends on the company and the circumstances at the time of managerial selection, along with your competition of course.

I hope I was helpful.

To become a manager, you need to achieve a certain level of skills, maturity and knowledge. This level varies from one organisation to another. So it's not a matter of what to study or how many years of experience to have.

For becoming a Manager qualification doesn't matter alot. But it is good if you are well qualified. Or minimum qualification should be Bachelors.

Professional experience matters alot. You should have atleast 5+ Years of experience in that feild to become a manager of the firm.

Companies rarely recruit fresher as a manager. One need to have more than 4 years of professional experience in project management. Also it depends upon how good you are in managing the projects, clients and team. As a fresher, one can join the company at lower level, enhance his skills, get suitable experience and then gets promoted as a manager.

Regarding education, one need to have atleast a bachelor degree to start his career. Alongwith this, having PMP, Prince2 certification will give you upper hand during interview.

varies from a Human Brain to Brain.Normally 15 years estimated.
