Shotcrete applications are jacketing for strenghthening of structures, tunnels concrete , retaining walls which is in the walleys , concrete application at the overhead surfaces ( soffit).Basicly; if concrete structure to be casted , one side is not possible to install any formwork, shotcrete could be applicable.

It is used when section thickness is very small and vertically made as walls of lakes or beseins and finishing of walls.

The Applications of Shotcrete are :-

Fiber-Reinforced Shotcrete

Silica-Fume Shotcrete

Polymer-Modified Shotcrete

Accelerated Shotcrete

These can done either in Dry-Mix process or Wet-Mix process.

Shotcrete mixtures are specially "formulated" to produce a cohesive and fast-setting material with good shooting, adhesion and strength characteristics. Shotcrete products are designed to meet the project specifications.

Shotcrete is applicaple in maintinance and reparing for a fast work.

The Application of Shotcrete are :

-Repaire and Restoration

- Dome and Tunnel

- Swimming Pool or slope surface

-Curvelinear Wall

Shotcrete is placed and compacted at the same time , due to the force with the nozzle , and can be sprayed onto any type and shape of surface either vertical or horizontal area .

Shotcrete is usually come wet mix or dry mix versions .

Shotcrete can be used to repair the damaged surface of concrete or steel structures provided there is access to the surface needing repair, Spillway surfaces. Surfaces subject to high velocity flows may be damaged by cavitation erosion or abrasion erosion. Shotcrete repairs are advantageous because of the relatively short outage necessary to complete the repairs, and also used  in Pools ,tanks, floors and walls We can use shotcrete in any unreachable surface .

It is used for over head application when concreting is to be done only on one side, used for lining of tunnels, stabilising slopes, strengthening of structures, etc.

Common applications

a. Repair-->Shotcrete can be used to repair the damaged surface of concrete, wood, or steel structures provided there is access to the surface needing repair

b. Underground excavations--> For the most part, shotcrete is used in underground excavations in rock; but on occasion, it has been successfully used in the advancement of tunnels through altered, cohesionless, and loose soils

c. Slope and surface protection-->Shotcrete is often used for temporary protection of exposed rock surfaces that will deteriorate when exposed to air

d. New structures--> Shotcrete is not necessarily the fastest method of placing concrete on all jobs, but where thin sections and large areas are involved, shotcreting can be used effectively to save time

See I am not Civil Engineer but as I read the ANSWERS of our Fellow Civil Engineers It Appears to me that Shotcrete is a Form and Procedure of latest technology of Concrete Mix used in Dry and Wet Forms through GUN technology. It is a Improved form of our Conventional Concrete Mix which is used in Construction of Civil Structures,Dams,Bridges,Buildings,Marine Structures,Tunnels etc.It has Batter Chemical Properties as to give Better Life to Structure than the Conventional Concrete and it needed less time also then the Old method or Mix.It is mixed with other Chemical Compounds to Increase it Life and Property to withstand Corrosion and Deformation and can be used as repairing materials to all the affected Structures also.
