What is the difference between DVRP and link state? Do MD5 authentication supported by mentioned routing protocols?

Thanks for participation. I would like to add a little portion in your answer that RIP version2 only support MD5 authentication. Also there is a reason behind it. And RIP ver1 or default RIP don't support MD5 authenication.

In a distance vector routing protocol, such as RIP or EIGRP, each router sends its routing table to neighboring routers. The routers don't know the topology, i.e., how other routers are interconnected.

In a link state routing protocol, such as OSPF or IS-IS, routers first exchange information about connections within the network (or an area of the network), and build a topology table. Then each router uses Dijkstra's algorithm to calculate the best route to each destination.

 

yes both can use md5 by different ways like keychains or configuring authentication keys on both ends. e.g. OSPF and RIP both support MD5 authentication
