The salary is in direct proportion of how many problems a professional can solve. It is the physical expression of one's own sense of worth
In my View Understandable Job should be First Option and Then Salary can be Negotiated for Ups & Downs which should be manageable as per your Expectations and requirements.
Negotiating for Salary Play a Big Role in any JOB because your mind is always keep comparing your Salary Status and your Efforts on Job.
Some time Managers or Higher Responsible find it a Confused or Less attentive mind to JOB may raise Negative Points on your Career.
Managers tend to be stimulated by their line of work because they simply enjoy it. Co-ordinating efforts, achieving results, allocating work and even having influence over people could be some of the reasons that make managers enjoy their work.
As far as the importance of the position held versus the salary offered, I would say that both are equally important; choosing between one of the two is a highly personalized decision and depends on the person.
A position that is fulfilling makes working hours more enjoyable, makes someone more efficient and allows him/her to be in a better mood during the rest of the day. On the other hand, enjoying work and a good mood don't get the bills paid; a higher salary provides more flexibility and a higher lifestyle, not to mention that it makes your life and the life of your family's easier. If it comes with a less fullfilling job though, it gets harder by the day.
Eventually, it really depends on someone's life goals, needs and timing.
I hope I was helpful.
