Measuring the true cost and revenues related to Reverse Logistics is very hard. Visibility in clear costs such as costs of rework, downgrading, processing customer complaints, warranty claims, product recalls, is a first step. But These giants Companies like Samsung and Apple have their own logistics department in each and every country for better and cost effective reversal. But if Samsung rechecks the phones in their respective service center for the faultiness first instead of sending directly to the manufacturing unit to change the batteries this will help to save the unnecessary cost of sending the product and also they can return the phone quickly to the customers whom have purchased resulting in building strong goodwill in the market.
Samsung is facing the battery issue which is because of the quality issue. And i would recommend return to respective service center or showroom. And one agent/forwarder to be nominated for each region to collect and ship in bulk quantities to the nearest factory.
