Trnasformer Core was laminated mainly to reduce the eddy current losses. The core Laminations are stacked together but are electrically insulated each other with thin layer of insulation.

Transformer core main purpose is transfer the flux from primary windng to secondary winding. However there will be some leakage flux causes the eddy current flowing into transformer core. To minimise the eddy current, transformer core was laminated (which ultimately increases the resistance due to decrease in area of section).
