Complete details about the company like its business, its departments, leaderships, achievements.
and another part is the contact persons or departments for the employee requirements like HR problems, Payroll, uniforms collection etc.
there should be a complete list of contact details of the people that can help an employee with his on job requirements or questions or worries.
in addition there should be a section about company rules & regulations, health and safety rules, country rules etc.
above all that an orientation book is not enough as many employees do not even read them, there should be at-least a one orientation class to go through the important points and emphasis on the importance of reading the handbook.
in other companies in addition to handbook there is an online training that the employee is obliged to complete once he/she joins the organization.
which is very helpful.
