Yes, for sure! It's much easier to get exposure for your writing in a social format where you can hashtag topics or tag friends than in a stand-alone blog. These formats are very limiting, though. If you truly want to produce a blog that people will follow, use your other social media accounts to connect with people who will have an interest in your focus area, then post attention grabbers with links to your blog posts. For example, attract people by using a great photo on Instagram with a story teaser and a link to your blog in the description.
While its true that most people use the above; its not technically blogging due to Twitter's character limit OR Facebook's lack of features for a full-fledged post. Tumblr however is a better platform for blogging alongside Wordpress; both are used more for blogging nowadays. Facebook and Twitter are used to share links and update status most of the time.
