I think that knowing how to interpret data is a very important skill to have nowadays. The marketing department is inundated with miles of data which is ultimately meaningless and useless if it is not interpreted correctly. We have access to so many ways to accumulate information on consumer behavior and customer preferences through demographics, psychographics, etc as well as so many ways to segment our target markets however differentiating between them and selecting one over the other needs smart interpretation, an eye for trends versus fads, and a knowledgeable base of critical thinking skills.
