Explain overhauling steps for a back pullout pump?

1 LOTO /  logout  tagout 

2  take work  permit 

3 take alignment reading

4 decoupled the pump and motor 

5 oil drain 

6 loose the pump casing bolts 

7 remove the pump 

8 loose the impeller nut and remove the impeller &  mechanical seal   rotary part with sleev 

9 remove impeller back casing with stuffing box

10 remove  the coupling hub after taking the hub dimension   and loose the bolts of bearing covers 

11 remove pump shaft 

12 remove bearing with puller 

13 check the shaft condition and runout

14  replace mechanical  seal oil seal bearings, o.ring , sleev , gaskets  if require  

15 again pump shaft boxup with coupling hub 

16 pump install at position install coupling & aligned with motor   and adjust the seal tension  make the oil level of bearing housing

Ø  Read and understand the pump and pump seal plan manual, because it will help you to ensure the pump clearance and seal data….etc.

Ø  Ensure according the drawing all need spare available or not

Ø  Ensure the equipment isolated (vent drain and purge)

Ø  Lock the mechanical seal

 

Ø  Disconnect the seal inlet/outlet tubing

Ø  Remove the coupling guard and check the alignment before dismantle the pump, it’s can help you to identify the RCI (route case)

Ø  De-couple the pump from the driver (motors, turbine…)

Ø  Drain the lube oil from the pump bearing housing (collect the sample)

Ø  Loose/ remove the pump casing bolt tight the jack bolt ensure the pump pulling back equally?

Ø  Pull out the pump with correct rigging plan, if the pump closed/semi open impeller check the casing wearing clearance, shift the pump to work bench

Ø  Check the impeller run out and back clearance, remove the impeller (ensure the thread left hand or right hand?)

Ø  Loose the seal from the back plate, remove the back plate and remove the seal (before removal ensure the drain vent position)

Ø  Check the pump bearing axial and radial play with dial gauge if the play above the vendor  recommend tolerance, has to change the bearing

Ø  Remove the bearing cover an pull out the shaft with bearing assembly,

Ø  Remove the oil seal and bearing housing o rings/gasket

Ø  Replace the oil seal and bearing housing o rings/gasket, if needed replace the bearing

Ø  Install back the bearing assembly ensure the shaft runout and radial axial play,

Ø  Fix the seal on the back plate as per marking, apply the vendor recommended the lubrication on the O ring

Ø  Fix the impeller on the shaft with correct O ring/gasket, check the impeller run out

Ø  If the impeller closed or semi open type ensure the impeller back clearance

Ø  Fix Assemble with casing with new gasket apply correct torque valve

Ø  Fill the lube oil, if the impeller open type fix the front clearance,

Ø  Connect the seal in/out let tubing fill the seal pot, if the seal buffer/barrier pressure set the pressure

Ø  Check and ensure the pump alignment with the driven, make the couple, fix the coupling guard

 

Ø  Release the seal lock plate, hand over the equipment to operation

4.Dismantleallpartsfromthepumpunitasimpeller,mechanicalseal

assembly,shaftsleeve,coupling,andbearingsrespectivelywithhighcare.

5. Thefollowingfactorsshouldbecheckedandrecordedforfutureto

estimatetheperformanceconditionofthepump,arewearringclearance,

sealcompression,shaftdeflection,thrust,truenessetcwhileorafter

dismantle.

6.Propertracingofpartsneedtoanyvisionabledamagelikecrack,score,

breaketc.

7.Bestischangingnewonecomparingreconditioningofparts.

8.Assembleisthereversingprocedureofdismantleasbeforeseen.

9.Beforecoupledalignmentshouldbecheckedorcorrected
