It depends upon nature of a job, an experienced person is required for higher post and highly paid but in case of newly established organizations they mostly prefer youngsters for low paid. They are also passionate for work.

At the other hand an aged person faced difficulties to found a new job, preference will be given to youngsters.

As far as I am concerned age does not matter in order to get a good a job but what matters most is relevant experience, ability to comprehend and act within the shortest possible time.

Unfortunately, age can be a silent killer for an over fifty-year-old and an under thirty-year-old job seeker. Recruiters and human resource professionals can come close to age calculation based on key dates in a résumé. If one of these gatekeepers made the decision to interview you, there was likely little or no consideration given to age. Job seekers should therefore not blame age for a reject letter received after an interview. The two most common reasons for rejection of an old or young job seeker are failing to satisfy the position requirements or displaying the worst stereotyped characteristics of someone over age50 or under age30.

Of course matter, For example for some senior level positions employer mentions minimun age limit, they are reluctant to hire too young for that positions. and some employer prefer those who complete their education in young age. So age does matter .

Indeed, age is one of the factor which has been considered by HR, technical heads while selecting a candidate. We tend to consider youngster at entry level positions or trainees when individuals are fresh and for mid-level position we do consider2-4 years of experience with mid age and as position goes up It demand matured experience and age and its obvious. Reason being, we could not for40 or45 years of matured age person for an entry level position where we rotate him/her or need active participation where age matters. We had no doubt on effort & sincerity of senior but it mis-match with team.
