' Start-up owners and/or directors need to invest time in setting up and reviewing their organisation structures. Structured Job Descriptions and Candidate/Job Profiles should be written in a manner that highlights desired employee competencies (behaviours), skills and qualifications.   Job Descriptions should always be tied to the company's mission, so a company with a very clear Strategy that encloses structured Vision, Mission statements and values will benefit the most, since the Mission statement cascades down into smaller missions for each department (Break-down of mission). The first hires in a start-up need to be the thought of as tomorrow's leaders, they will be setting up the corporate culture for years to come, changing the culture in future will be a tiresome and costly process so company owners should not neglect this under any circumstances.

Since start-ups might not have the funds to hire a well-rounded HR manager with sufficient field-experience, it's advisable to use an HR-consultant.
