Despite the title " ArtDirector", an art director is not necessarily the head of an art department.
Although a good art director is expected to have graphic design judgment and technical knowledge of production.
Art is often considered the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions.
It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations and ways of expression, including music, literature, film, sculpture and paintings.
An aspiring art director should come from a graphic design background, and should be respectful to all either younger and elder and should have courage to except his/her error and would be a team player with leader quality.

The operative word in "Art Director" is Art.
Hence, one needs a good eye for detail.
I've known art directors, myself included, who would fuss over less than a hair's width worth of kerning (space between letters), that would hardly be noticed by an average human.
Originality is almost a given with these folks.
Intelligence and integrity, a must in terms of creating a believable work of art.
Strangely enough, the operative word for "Creative Director" is Director.
This position requires a step back to look at the big picture.
He/She assesses the work in terms of how it will affect the brand and the communication.
The Creative Director usually has the luxury of having his/her Art Director and Writer attend to the smaller details.
But that shouldn't prevent him/her from retaining a sharp eye for any possible errors or improvements.
For both, and for anyone, a saying I enjoy sharing is, "May you have the foresight to see where you're going, the hindsight to see where you've been, and the insight to see when you've gone too far."

An Art Director Skills: Must be a leader, someone who inspires and guides the vision of the design team.
Must have strong marketing skills, in marketing and brand communication Must manage several departments which are working to generate content inside their framework.
Strong presentation skills are required to communicate campaign and brand objectives internally and to external stakeholders since an art director is the image of the agency working in, and the one who sells the idea.
Thank you :)
