Hi Mohammed,
You are quite right to mention the difference between manager and leader. In the context that the manager has a team that will make him a leader as we’ve got someone that leads and some that follow.
Now going back to the question I personally believe that in the first source (power acquired by the position), is of course associated with the job and will be possessed by any person which have been appointed to that role no matter whether he or she is capable as leader. But in the second source the level of power is a mixture of the person that holds the position and by the reactions of the followers on the leader’s actions and style. I think the second offers greater power as it combines respect, trust, and an ability to influence.
I have practically seen use of 'situational leadership', you become manager ( use of Position) for few of your team members . And you play a role of leader for few smart workers, they don't need directions/instructions for each and every step..
It's come firstly from his position..that make him a manager
If this power come from his carisma and personality >>> that will make him a leader
The Leader is stronger than manager,,
manager is employee with some Organizational skills and have roles , if he good he will build a team to do what job need to get teh target , by time if he got the project targets he will build his Experiencesso he will build his power as Good Manager .
