The non-destructive testing techniques, which may be applied to welds and repairs in cast irons are Visual examination,
Magnetic particle/liquid penetrant tests
or Radiographic inspection.
All acceptance criteria for Visual, penetrant and radiographic testing should be in accordance with an appropriate standard eg: Appendix D in ANSI/AWS D11.2.
The three non-destructive testing techniques, which may be applied to welds and repairs in cast irons are visual examination, magnetic particle&liquid penetrant tests or radio-graphic inspection.
MAGNETIC PARTICLE INSPECTION or MPI.
la fonte ne soudure pas la fonte et fer ne pas le meme.
Radiographic Testing and Magnetic Partical Inspecion.
Liquid pentrant testing
Magnetic particle inspection
radiographic inspection
For non porous cast iron surface, all NDT techniques (RT, UT, PT, VT) can be applied. If the surface is porous PT isn't applicable.
surface detection dye penetration test
The three non-destructive testing techniques, which may be applied to welds and repairs in cast irons are visual examination, magnetic particle/liquid penetrant tests or radiographic inspection.
Before making any critical weld repair, the defective area should be checked with magnetic particle/liquid penetrant to locate the extent of all surface defects associated with the repair.
Major repairs and complete joint penetration welds in cast iron where minimum specified base metal strength is required should be tested by all three techniques above.
Joints and repairs in non-critical areas require only visual examination and penetrant testing.
All acceptance criteria for visual, penetrant and radiographic testing should be in accordance with an appropriate standard eg: Appendix D in ANSI/AWS D.2
To find the internal defects we can use Ultrasonic testing & Radiography testing.
