Marketing is both Science and art of studying the human behavior to analyse and utilize them to promote and persuade a customer to buy our end product and there by to maintain the reputation as well. We do have to study the human behavior so that we could create a need or desire for a product to reduce the daily work of mankind or to attract them towards the social requirements.

In my view, the "art vs. science" debate isn't really much of a match at all. It's less of a cage-match and more of a partnership, because marketing as a business is both–art and science.

Marketing is a science, an art and a behavioral economics. When assisting a customer we will apply all of these, one or the other. Science, in learning the customer wants. Art , as in the way we assist the customer our expressions and the way we answer questions and the last is behavioral economics, it our attitude in assisting the, ending the sale.

Marketing begins as a science from when you study in the university the basics of marketing and then ends up into an art with growing experience. Its is a partnership of both being a science and and art in general. There's the numbers in strategic marketing communications and the social science part in consumer behaviour.

Marketing is science as it is based on the behaviors and psychology of people - It is also an art of how well we use the knowledge about human behaviors in the best of interests. It is art because sometimes the interest of a marketer may be on a collision course with those of its consumers, this is when a marketer has to creatively offer a win/win scenario.

Marketing is an artistically scientific process of communicating the essence in a way that the recipient views the product/service as integral to filling a gap that has been created through that communication.

You need me VS We need YOU!

I have come across an interesting take on marketing early in my career, that, marketing is like a bull with 2 ferocious horns. "its those horns that matters - rest is all bull"

leaving aside the humor, it did make sense in several ways

its a right combination of art / science / behavioral economics / communication mediums / content etc, which when applied in the right mix, create a perception, a state of mind.

in todays world, the right marketing mix will quantify "whether the spend justifies the returns"
