According to the Advising & Learning Assistance Center, a good planner is reasonable, sets a workable schedule and anticipates possible setbacks ahead of time by being prepared. It takes practice and commitment to become a good planner, but planning skills can improve with time and experience.
According to the Research Polytechnic Institute, effective planners delegate tasks when they can, aim to stay flexible and realistic with the scheduling process, plan tasks ahead of time and ask for advice from people who can help to fine-tune a schedule. Analyzing the amount of resources available and effort required to complete a task at any time makes it easier to set plans that go through without a hitch. A good planner avoids cramming his daily schedule with tasks to prevent stress overload. It is wise to begin projects far ahead of a deadline to be a more effective planner, and it also leaves time to alter a schedule if obstacles emerge.
Anyone can write down multiple tasks to complete, but a successful planner is able to set a solid schedule and complete it. Taking the time to prioritize helps to make better plans that ensure that crucial tasks are taken care of first. Using a paper scheduler, a smartphone app or an online scheduler are just a few ways to make plans and monitor them regularly. The ability to say no to a project or request that conflicts with an established schedule and knowing one's own physical, mental and emotional limits are key to effective planning.

Suleiman - how are you your question on planning in it self indicates that you have the motivation to start on this field , planning is the scope of management and technical works , now to be a good planner you have to be very skilled and experienced in the job you are doing as such to enable you to identify priorities and the routes you are going to take for hitting your targets , i will give an example of constructing an access road then first you plan how to avail the materials( sand , aggregate , water , asphalt , mc1, rc2, , filler etc ), in this case you will plan to start with queries, and the equipments to collect the mixed sand with water , and second step to have loading equipments to load the trucks and trucks to transfer the material to the road and the equipments to grade the materials and then equipments to compact the material and then testing your work to proceed to another layer and so on as you see it is a matter of one activity before the other or one activity depending on completion of the other - here a lot of knowledge and experience will automatically reflect on the planning , may be you need to go deeper to the time of activities relevant to facilitates available to you this is another higher scope of planning , generally planning means awareness, skills , experience , and time utilization , of coarse they are planning teaching , you can study one of the coarse which are relevant to the area where you are working you can make use of that it may boost up your ability , how ever i can say you can start executing one project if it is available for you through it you can collect too much information s , record as a reference for future interpretation , after some time you are going to make your own plans and even signifies the hard experiences and how you solved the problems and how you will avoid them in future project till you master the whole thing
