Most surface modelling handle with Catia software and  solid modeling like gear and flange, we compare with solid works is the easy and quick learning cad software

CATIA states: Virtual Product. SolidWorks states: 3D Design. And they mean it! In CATIA, you can not only create a car, but a factory in which it will be produced, the machining processes required, and even you can simulate ergonomics studies as well, like weather the current layout of a plant will be comfortable for workers to work or not. So you can simulate the whole thing within a virtual reality, including, and of course, rendering. SolidWorks: well, it is purely a product to design machines. But, of course, there are other applications, like aerospace, automobile, consumer products, etc. Much user friendly than the former one, in terms of modeling, editing designs, creating mechanisms, etc. I look at the two by this way: Create an aircraft in CATIA, but create the engine in SolidWorks!

pro e is fatest program to design the parts and it s good accuracy and it will be take less time ,good daimension, its  catia also used 3d modeling  yes and catia also used for solidworks

I used Solidworks & Solid Edge softwares only, the major difference i felt is, in solid edge we have to design each & every part by ourselves means there is no library where pre created parts such as gears & lead screws etc could be found. while in solid works there is a library of all types of gears etc & we can also change there diameter & Number of teeth again & again, but this is not possible on solid edge.

In CATIA  we can only design a part but a manufacturing industry requires the machining process. So ywe can simulate the whole thing within a virtual reality, including, and of course, rendering, SolidWorks: well, it is purely a product to design machines. But, of course, there are other applications, CATIA will be good for surface modelling to say simple , use CATIA to design an Aircraft, Solidworks to design Engine

Solid Edge is a 3D modelling software only whereas Catia can be used for modelling as well as for creating manufacturing programs.
