key performance indicator measurement is a quantitative method of measurement of key performance of an employee which determines his effectiveness for his specific role over a specified period of time. KPI s are different for different roles. some forms (a) related to project - earned value, schedule variance, cost variance, CPI, SPI, percentage progress, progressive invoice value, cash flow trends, margins analysis, cos benefit analysis, pack back period, net present value, reports of quality and safety deficiencies, scope deviations, customer satisfaction, risk analysis and mitigation measures(b)  related to sales - sales target, sales volume growth, increase in number of customers, product-wise category wise, channel wise, geography wise targets (c) related to marketing - improvement in market share, developing new customers, developing  channels of marketing, generating more awareness, enhancing brand image, strengthening brand loyalty, product launches, etc

In addition to our colleagues answers and clarifications about the Key Performance Indicator , I would like to confirm that KPI is mostly used in the Sales tools as a criteria to measure the level of the sale-force performance related to target budget achievement and Sales growth realization during a certain period.

KPIS - The basic performance indicators are a means to measure performance or progress toward practical goals . The organization or unity. It also allows the organization to measure performance,determines the way the process for the characterization of what is considered performance. We use it  -

speaking key performance indicator most carried on appraisals , then it is different job category and standards work in there , suppose we are highlighting labor performance then the following performance indicators can be used , attendance , job knowledge , job quality , obedience , relation with his supervisors , initiation ,punctuality , staying on the job  but if we are speaking about staff the this will add significant further qualities like hitting targets , achievements , planning , programming , time utilization , values added , and personal attitudes

Every organization ( teams , or staff member ) has objectives, and  goals to achieve so with a simple definition KPI is a measurement device that helps you understand how your organization  ( teams , or staff member ) is doing in regard to its goals 

Example : when we hire a sales person or marketing staff we create a person profile according to the job description in that person profile we put what the result we wait from this person in his new position that process its what we call KPI so we can evaluate him according to his progress in his job , we can evaluate a sales team efficiencylike a sales growth in quarter , customer satisfaction and loyalty , reduce waste and cost ................ u can put as much u want KPI  depending on your goals and strategy in other post at bayt  i post a recruitment KPI  for more illustration
