Retention time is the amount of time fluid stays in the vessel. It assures that equilibrium has been reached between gas and liquid at separator pressure
The retention time in a separator is time period for well effluent takes from entring sperator inlet to flow out from separator out-let and determined by dividing the liquid volume inside the vessel by the liquid flow rate. The retention time usually varies between 30 seconds and 3 minutes.
Retention time=periode of time in wich the Separator hold in the effluent coming form well during the separation process
1. time spent by oil+gas particle inside separator for separation. more retention means more better separation
retention time is the time in which a portion of fluid travels from the sandfece downhole to surface.
The time taken by molecule of gas or liquid to travel from inlet of separator to outlet is called retention time. OR in other words the time spend by a molecule of Gas or liquid in Separator.
The amount of time a liquid stays in a vessel . The retention time assures that equilibrium between the liquid and gas has been reached at separator pressure . The retention time in a separator is determined by dividing the liquid volume inside the vessel by the liquid flow rate. The retention time is usually varies between 30 seconds and 3 minutes . If a foaming crude is present the retention time could be increased by four times its normal values.
