How different is Social Media in different countries?

I recently moved to Dubai and was faced with an interesting "problem". How much, in your opinion, is the user base in different countries and do they react differently to certain types of posts or such?

How much do you need to re-learn about social networks to be effective in different countries as a social network (and digital marketing in general) manager?

Where we grew up determines how we think and behave. Therefore, in my view, customs, laws and traditions has a part to play. " So, when you go to Rome, do what the Romans do"

The main variable for social media differences is the environment around; social media in Russia for example is different than social media in UAE because the mentality, problems and focus is different. Discussions would be more political in Russian social media; seen from experience. Hence, to understand your new audience better, just go outside, read the local news and finally browse the online content; this way you would re-learn most about your new audience and how to reach out to them.

You should personalize your message to be welcomed by your audience as in UAE there are many nationalities so it's better to make a campaign for each nationality and language to feel valued by your company

I also moved to Dubai and faced the similar issue. however i can say that the social media in UAE is far more advanced than that from Pakistan. Anything could be posted in Pakistan but in UAE, it is very important for the content to be aligned with the UAE laws and whatever you post, you must do it consciously because accountability is high here which is a very very good thing!
