Joint Venture is an understanding between 2 or more parties sharing ownership, risks, returns.

Partnership is sharing profits and loss 

The difference between the 2 is that in the Joint venture it can be limited to geographical area  or any other condition where there will be JV., but for partnership there are no conditions.
