Thank you fro inviting.

Influencer/ Celebrities marketing is a common practice in both traditional marketing and digital marketing. however the use of the term/ jargon  influencer marketing was probably popularized by the digital marketers.   Therefore if i understand your question rightly, you are asking if influencer marketing is more effective via traditional medias or via digital mediums?

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. the choice of medium will entirely depend on:

  • Who is your target customer group?
  • How and where do they gather their information from?
  • how do they purchase?

Answers to these, particularly the 2nd question will help you decide your medium.

There are several advantages using the digital media for influencer marketing provided that's where your customers are:

  • Lighting Speed: Speed and Reach on digital media is multi-folds greater, you can reach to millions of people in a much shorter span of time.
  • Build Trust: In traditional media normally it is one or a small group of people who endorse your product but in digital media use can actually have a your customers and prospective customers endorse your product apart from experts. And this creates/ build the TRUST in the brands far more faster.
  • Economical: Initially you may hire a celebrity or expert(s) to start the wheel rolling but there after your customers, prospect and fans will roll the wheel for you and it will gather movement and grow big at a phenomenal rate with almost no incremental cost.
  • Awareness creation and lead generation: It is easier to create brand awareness, generate leads and execute loyalty programs.
  • Segmentation: you can also do many kinds of analysis like what groups like and dislike your product, in which Geographic, demographics, economic etc segments your products are preferred etc. etc

Digital Influence marketing's  key advantage is the speed at which it can reach people and this also means that bad news can also spread at an equal if not faster speed ( generally faster). therefore one should be careful in quarantining the spread of bad news.

Traditional or digital media, not one is greater/ better than the other. through whichever medium you can reach your customers the fastest and cheapest and most effectively is the best best. therefore the choices vary from brand to brand and can also vary from product to product within a brand.

Oh YES!

With the increase in social media awareness and access to daily life news about the celebrities (Hint: Kylie Jenner's SnapChat!), celebrities are able to reach out to their fans in a number of ways.

Previously, it used to be just via press conferences and interviews in monthly magazines, but now the engagement between fans and celebrities has increased and with that, the endorsements as well.

Traditional marketing lacks the human factor and being a customer, I KNOW that the company wants me to buy the product hence it is marketing; but if my favorite celebrity would endorse the same product, i would be inclined to at least check out the specifications of the product.

This actually happened with me recently only. I saw advertisements of LUSH Bath products online but i clicked on another page and forgot all about that product. Later, I saw the Kylie Jenner's snapchat story where she demonstrated the use of LUSH Bath bomb and revealed that she is a regular user of the product line; I started my research on the brand. Turned out that it was available in Dubai and I quickly went and grabbed my piece and used it.

This just goes to say that people who look up to celebrities are more inclined towards being persuaded to invest in the product compared to those people who are not interested in celebrities at all. Traditional marketing tools are way too inane now and with the social media marketing taking over everything, it seems that everyone can get their brand on your screen with little money and excellent marketing strategy.

Yes, the use of Celebrities in marketing have a great impact on the consumers, the buying behavior of an individual is totally dependent on the instinct or stimulus which they get after seeing a product. And Influencers like celebrities definitely play a major role in endorsing a product as they directly play with the psyche of the consumer. Celebrities endorsement are mostly for a FMCG products and for NON PROFIT agencies.

Time spent on a paid form of communication is definitely enhanced  with popular credible influences. In a Highly cluttered media space  celebrity endorsement is a BIG YES!While there are certain sensitivities linked to narrowing down on celebrity all said and done, impact is better than a Non celebrity communication. Intelligent Marketers bank on POSITIONING and ensure its married carefully with celebrity profile.

Somehow, it works. They have legions of followers which could influence others as well. And this is where networking plays in which is good for business.

Sure Celebrities have a good effect in marketing campaigns, however, not give a tremendous sell out but still have a good impact.

Yes, it is a big influence. Like in our country, the number endorser right now are celebrities, mostly love teams. They have the most number of followers and whatever brand they promote, fans would go for that product or goods or events.
