Grammar is a set of structural rules that governs the composition of clauses, phrases, words and sentences in a language. It refers to the study of such rules. Grammar includes phonology and phonetics (study of sounds), morphology (study of words), syntax (study of sentences), semantics (study of meaning)..... So, syntax is a branch of grammar. :)
Syntax is about the ingredients of language such as phrases, punctuations, prefixes, suffixes, homophones, homonyms, synomyms, antonyms whereas grammar is about usage and correct formation of sentences.
I think grammar is a generic word and syntax is a part of grammar. If I'm not wrong, syntax is the study of the structure of the sentence.
grammar is the rules but syntax is how the sentence is formed (is it active or passive ? is it short or long? )
Syntax, for example, is how the English language is put together, compared to other language systems. Syntax looks mostly at word order and sentence formation between multiple languages.
Syntax is a constituent part of grammar, a subordinate if you like.
in simple words grammar is mother of english and syntex is her son ....grammar is based on rule ...syntext is its branch aramdment of words
The word syntax means to go back to the roots of a language and how we arrive to the language which we are using now
