I am in the middle of my career for a decade with several jobs held like in human resources, payroll, administration, material management, document control, executive secretary, and personal assistant. While, my educational background is marketing management.
The average employee change their job (not career) every five years. If you believe that you are fully aware of your current job operations, you might what to change for a challenging one.
If you can do the duties and responsibilities of the new position (Marketing), that is better as it has more chances to benefit financially.
Never be afraid of following your passion. If you love marketing, do it.
But marketing is a large function. Decide whether you want to do online, offline, communication etc and then go for it. Good luck.
I think you have studies both, so I dont find it ODD to switch to marketing, as you need to do alot of management in there as well, you will be doing better in marketing, with you previous management experience..,
