Managers must take responsibility for problems and failures not employees. What are your views?

It often happens that employees are blamed for any problem and failures. Normally frontline gets impacted most in case of any problem and failure.

It is always the manager's fault.  Always.  There are no exceptions because it is the manager's fault in principle.  By definition, the manager is responsible for the performance of their team members.

Employee is late for work?  Manager's fault.

- Manager has failed to create contingency plan for when the employee is late

- Manager has failed to communicate to employee the importance of being on time or at least warning they will be late

- Manager has failed to understand employee's life situation and put in place reasonable assistance to help employee get to work on time

- Manager has failed to instigate HR policies that assist staff in arriving on time

- Manager has failed to hire somebody who gets to work on time

Etc.

It depends upon the work and to whom the work responsibilities are given, the one who's given responsibilities and also authorities in his/her work domain shall be held responsible...
