1-OSPF: is standard routing protocol, IS-IS: is Cisco Propriety

2-OSPF: runs over L3,IS-IS: runs over L2

3-OSPF: uses IP Protocol 89 as transport , IS-IS: is directly encapsulated in Layer 2 

4-OSPF: Area Border Router (ABR) , IS-IS: L1L2 router
