4c                                  4p

Customer solution       Product

Customer cost            Price

 Convenience            Place

Communication        Promotion

4p's still have a place within the marketing mix,it is arguable that they do not fit in with the needs of today's marketing objectives wellas 4c's have more relevance , particulary wheb it comes to marketing educational institutions and other companies offering intangible products and benefits.

From the buyers viewpoint, the four P's might be better described as the four C's.

4Ps                  4CS

Product...        Customer solution

Place.....          Convenience

Promotion....    Communication

Price....             Cost

The 4Ps are a marketing tools that are controlled and blended in a certain way in order to reach the target market effectively. Thus, the 4Ps takes into account the sellers view of the market rather than the buyers view. However, the 4Cs takes the buyers view into account.

It is crucial, therefore, to plan and think through the buyers view first (4Cs) and then develop the 4Ps based on that.
