What do you think of the following saying: "Those who can't do, teach" Do you think it's true? Does it apply to trainers and teachers?

The saying "Those who can't do, teach" is used a lot by students when speaking about their teachers. For example, they believe that a finance or economics trainer/teacher would be in the business world applying his knowledge instead of teaching it to others, hence the saying "Those who can't do, teach".

Do you agree with the saying? Why or why not?

The teaching would be more effective if one has on the job experience in the subject matter. It would help to provide practical insights of the subject.

the age old argument of teacher by passion and teacher by circumstances applies here and applies to almost all arguments originating from this profession.

I believe its very true because of two reasons:

1. deteriorating quality of output of schooling and education

2. immense influx of teachers in the industry still most vacancies not finding the right person.

so I do believe this to an extent but

A GOOD TEACHER WHO HAS PASSION TO TEACH CAN ACTUALLY MOVE THE WORLDS.

I think this can never be a true statement, except in some areas where teaching is not fully managed and controlled as required. Also, it may be applicable to those who are not  good enough in practical teaching like lab operators or trainers...etc, where they should not be there in the first place or only after enough training or work to resolve their problem.

That argument is long dead. Today's participants in a training classroom are so well informed that if the trainer is not an expert in the subject matter - they will rip him apart within the first 15 minutes of the class!

I think it's true in some domains for example: The computer science ; a developer mind is different the a searcher one but the twice are complementary. the one who can do was a student of who teach we must have the twice. it is an example but I think it 's available for the other domains

Most people are quite familiar with the saying, “Those who can’t do, teach.” This statement suggests that people who have failed or would be failures in the world outside of academia end up as teachers.

there are some points i would like to highlights.

1; A teacher can teach and deliver his collaboration if, he is competent.

2; A teacher should be well trained, and give maximum workshop classes before he joined class  teaching.

3; Statement of intent, commitment and control.

4; management and cooperation, communication and consultation.

i think these steps should be implemented before teacher attend any class and after all these implementation you can,t repeat this particular sentence"Those who can,t do teach?.

As per me there are only two types of teacher in this world. Those are ones who teach on practical experiences & ones who teach on theoretical, however, at times both are important but for me practical exposure is more important. Practical experience stays quite and does his work and thus it reflects, however "theory is theory". So i would conclude and clear my answer with a proverb saying:

" An empty vessel always makes noise than to that which is full "

This is a generalized statement. Sometimes it might be true which is for good. For Eg., those who have been in Marketing and Business development will be able to give students their real time experience in Business studies.

It is not necessary that everyone can "do everything". So people need to concentrate in their core skills...like Teachers and Trainers are good in imparting knowledge and develop the learner's understanding and skills  To receive one's attention and transfer knowledge is not an easy task unless it is practiced and mastered.Teachers and Trainers have an important role in shaping the society. So they are spending most of their time in sculpting young minds.
