I have been in with windows2000 server , this feature is not new it is used for fault tolarance / high avaibility means if your one DHCP server goes down another DHCP server will take care to distrubute IP address.

1. suppose you have created one scope on one DHCP Server :192.192.1.1 -192.168.1.127

2. create an other DHCP server and second scope :192.168.1.128-192.168.1.254

Its New feature in server2008 R2. used for DHCP server fault tolarence. we can run two DHCP server.

we can split the scope in to two DHCP servers.
