How many people should approve an advertisement before it's published?

Usually, ads or any form of media needs approval from several people before it's published. However, the more people it goes through, the more editing and ideas are either put into the ad or taken out.

This might ruin or lessen the effect the ad is supposed to have. So, how many people do you think an ad should go through before it's accepted?

That really depends on internal organization and personality of marcoms manager.

When I worked as head of marcoms I had the authority to approve everything. My CMO wanted to see the ad before it aired for the first few months, after that she left it all to me.

In some other companies it is not so simple. It also depends in how much responsibility each marcoms processional wants to take on her/his shoulders. If you screw up and you have noone else's signature on the ad but yours, it's your head!

Only the Lawyers should approve before it’s published.

Advertisement artists should be free to create, I don’t believe in business bureaucracy trying to dictate what gets published. They made their decision when they hired the advertisement artists, now they should let them create and publish.

The work of moderators and the advertisers are entirely different.

The moderator job is to see if the advertisement follows the standards and guidelines.

The advertisers need to build a solid brand image complying with the organizations guidelines and policy.

The marketing manager is the one who does the assessment along with the product manager and higher board of directors.

The final decision may go through revision before actually launching the advertisement campaign.

We have to abide and folow the Management structre in our Company. Presently I work with my team on an Ad concepts through an Agency. We have to recommend the best selected one to the MD of our Company for the final approval prior to airing the Ad.

I think the more people involed are better to get their views to get to a right Ad. That leads to team work.
