Is subliminal advertising illegal? If not, do you believe it's an effective method of advertising?

Sometimes, we can see certain brands or products being shown in movies or even music videos. There is an indirect focus on those brands to promote them. This can be considered as a form of subliminal advertising because it shows that celebrities or well known figures use these products. Is this method illegal? If not, do you believe that it's effective?

Subliminal Advertisement or subliminal messaging in an advertisement is illegal in some countries.

Some studies showed that it could be harmful to some humans; but regardless of the legal stature, to me it’s a stupid concept and agencies that use such outdated concepts reflect their lack of creativities.

The most effective advertisement in today’s fast, intellect, interconnect societies is humor.

Of course it is legal. All it really dues is make you feel comfortable about the brand or product. A bit like peer group pressure. You don't want to be left out

Must be legal since it is widely used. Celebrities and role models do have a wide effect on public, therefore it is an effective method. You reach a larger audience through subliminal advertising, so the ROI must be comparable to TV and Media.
