Transforming into a social business is a pretty big concept with several pieces and there is a lot of debate around what those pieces should be. However, most will agree that there is an internal communications component of becoming a social business. When you look at how social media is being used to improve internal communications, you can start to separate those who are providing lip service to the social business transformation to those that are serious. This also extends far beyond becoming a “social” business and using social technology. The real questions I believe we should be asking are: how can technology be used to increase the speed of knowledge transfer, to influence the culture of working together, and to improve internal business processes.

I’ve worked for several large organizations and one thing was true in every one of them. There are huge information silos between different divisions, different offices, and even within departments. These information silos can be very costly for organizations. The cost impact can range from not knowing the internal expertise available to having multiple departments working on similar initiatives and spending money for outside consultants to do the same projects as well as having employees who do not even know they exist. For many companies, the quickest way to break down silos is to leverage an internal social network.

  • Create an Internal Social Network to Improve Relationships
  • Use Your Employee Social Network to Increase Project Transparency
  • Use Your Employee Social Network to Find Internal Expertise
  • Use Your Employee Social Network to Increase Mind-Share

The role of social media in business is extremely important. That being said, it needs a dedicated and professional approach when used by companies.

My personal view is that the following should be the main focus when engaging in any social media platform;

  1. Create ENGAGING and interesting content that reflects your company culture and vision.
  2. Spend some money on having professionals edit the content
  3. Don't try to use it solely as a marketing tool. YES, it is useful to marketing but only if the people whom you interact with feel they are getting honest and unbiassed content.
  4. Keep watching TRENDS and support other social media users that mirror your company culture.
  5. ROI... what a headache! Just remember that Rome was not built in a day and keep posting good, AUTHENTIC content that will encourage readers to follow and participate.
  6. OFFER SOMETHING... Nobody wants to keep reading blurbs and "approved texts" The main idea should be based on an interction that offers the readers something
  7. Keep hyperlinking and cross refferencing articles, posts, blog entries, comments and tweets.

Through many hard lessons learnt, I've found that only one thing really offers results... HONEST, ENGAGING CONTENT

Internet has become part of our life whether we are at work or we are at home we are using computers mobiles to get the latest information.

Organisations are finding more and more creative ways to target large number of customers. Social media has become a weapon for them. Whether its a launch of product or services , getting feedback or gathering info about customer needs, organisations are using this platform in order to connect with larger audience.

But it can be devastating for the companies for example if organisation is developing some new product and the information is leaked it can lead to very high losses for the company. So I beleive it has both the positive and negative effect,
