I would ask about the error in my design as I check it before and I'm sure that it meets the requirements according to my given data
on what basis are you saying that, do you checked on any software or by any method
Primarily the job of a structural engineer is to provide a safe and economical design for the common people. Common people does not understand the concepts involved in structural engineering, we need to explain them in an easy and understandable manner that the structure is safe.
Secondly an efficient Structural Engineer will not go for a conservative design unless there is a lack of inputs(SBC, usage of the sturcture, loads acting on the structure etc). On receipt of accurate building/structure inputs, we can redesign the structure economically to meet the clients requirement.
I would definitely redesign according to the engineering perspectives and make it attractive to the common people to the extent as much as possible, as the design will serve the common people and it should be attractive to them.
Would ask the people saying this "What makes them say this??". And then work rectify the design or clear the Myths of the people saying this accordingly
Firstly, I ask for the error, but i am sure i design according to the requirements and building rule. I can provide the executed woks as proof.
I would like to know the reason for saying that and if really it satisfies me then i will rectify the problem by redesigning if required and if their reason is not satisfying then i would try to convince them with the design what i had done with the appropriate reason.
