Is a lot of travelling required for Employee Relation officer position?

Employee relations his role to visit every employee in his work place wherever he or she is

 

Personal contacts to resolve a query can need travel.

Yes, visiting makes employees relations as strong as bond, as if you travel so you are giving much time, and face to face meeting which is ultimately more valuable than just connecting on phone or social media, it will increase your respect in eyes of customers, they will think you consider them more important by physically visiting them compared to just sending messages, or emails.

It all depending upon job requirement and business need.

It may not necessarily be "alot of travelling" but travelling occasionally & when necessary because these relations offocers need more exposure to different environments & settings to be updated with current trends in employee relations and also to gain more knowledge, skills, experience & expertise in handling employee relations.
