Gap created by boss before employee since if he open the door for one of his team rather than others it will lead to gap and if he encourage all to do their best gap will vanish

Team mate is important in team working and I don't think that overtaking create gap just to impress the boss that cause gap both if team members are fully and widely inform. But if so, to avoid gap, both staff should know their specific role and job description as their guide to claim to work. Given such guide is to discipline, limit and control themselves by overtaking other job for a purpose and by instinct both will be ashamed to do it because the respect is there and is a must. The team leader job is to discuss the scope and limitation of their job description that both can understand well with warnings to discourage overtaking to avoid misunderstanding as well as gap. And it would be nice to remind them always that overtaking is not essential for promotion rather sanctions if they practiced it.
