In the virtual world: YesIt's no replacement for real-life human interaction which actually brings people close. Social media keeps you connected with everyone but does not provide the stimulation required by the human brain to actually form feelings and emotional connection with the other person so in my opinion it's not helping in that depart at all. However, for businesses and professional networking and maintaining a public diary, it is great.

My opinion that the social media has it good and bad,  if we use for family and friends connection is fine but it wont be good if we use ii in negative way, instead brings together but its apart.

We must use the social media wisely to portray ourselves and for other to view as well.

Definitely brings closer for distance, for nearer meet up is better way to build up relationship.

My humble opinion is that employees' personal social media accounts are part of their private lives and HR managers as a matter of principle should not have the right to investigate them unless an employee:

Well, social media nowadays is really bringing people who are friends, brothers, sisters, cousins, ... etc close to each other especially when they are abroad and everyone is in a different country because you can't make international calls on a regular basis while you are still trying to make some calls from time to time. So, I believe it is a way to connect people close together but for sure it will not replace normal gatherings or calls.

Motivation Because of its growing ubiquity, communication rapidity, and cross-platform accessibility, Twitter is increasingly being considered as a means for emergency communication during and after natural disasters.6 In most urban areas, different types of networks, such as fixed-line, Wi-Fi, cellular, and WiMax, can provide overlapping coverage for Internet connectivity. So, during times of crises' when a certain type of telecommunication infrastructure is destroyed, people can still use other means to keep in touch via social media. As reported by Craig Fugate (the administrator of the US Federal Emergency Management Agency)7 with regard to the catastrophic 2010 Haiti earthquake, even when an area's physical infrastructure was completely destroyed, the cellular tower bounced back quickly, allowing survivors to request help from local first responders and emergency managers to relay important disaster-related information via social media sites.

Social media to me is a cross country Bridger or unifying factors that brings family, friends, class mates and the likes together. But in most cases if not properly used, it can divide the individuals especially as it regards to 'fake news'.
