It’s said that reading is food for your brain; but it depends on what you read; for example reading cook books will not make you an intellect but a good chef (in theory).

I don't agree this argument 100% because its depends of the way of reading, and kind of books. Reading behind the lines improve the intellectual mind of the person specially the person who write(stories,news,..)

Reading does significantly expand your vocabulary in ways that you may not notice right away. It exposes you to and lets you uncover the context of the words that you’ve probably never heard of before. Reading compels you to look up the meaning of the words you’ve just read, hence as you go further along, the more the sentences make sense to you than before you began reading them.

Reading books will definitely ameliorate your language skills and cultivate your knowledge, however becoming an intellectual person requires more than just consuming books!

In my opinion, an active reading would definitely increase one's intellectual wellness; an active reading means that we aren't only taking in every information written before us, but we are also analyzing and criticizing the content of the books we're reading.

If you want to become more intellectual, then you should read, research, investigate and develop the ideas presented to you.
