Do you agree that professional human resource managers MUST study any psychology?

studying psychology in my opinion has always been essential with professions that deal with people (such as HR, customer service etc) so I am interested in hearing everyone else's opinion.

PSYCHOLOGY are prepared with the information and skills they will need to interact successfully in the field of business. It involves STUDY of HOW & WHY PEOPLE THINK & ACT, it is an excellent course of PREPARATION for the field of HUMAN RESOURCES.

 

 By understanding the way people are motivated and how they function, this information can be applied in the workplace.

Yes, I think HR practitioner must study psychology in one way or another.  Psychology is the study of human mind and behaviors and by studying psychology will surely help them use it in dealing with different people and cultures.  They will be able to understand more clearly the needs of the employees and help them to grow professionally and increase their performance.

It depends on the industry, I don't believe that this is a requirement for a HR Manager that is based in the field in a remote location. It's common sense to have a level of sympathy or empathy in any situation in the working world.

HR is the brain of companies, also the first step of build any company you need to find HR and Finance team before any technical employee so they can help you to manage and coordinat between managment and employees.
