1- Passion for SEO (Changing with the time) - SEO is changing with the time, candidate must have passion to learn and adapt the changes.

When deciding to hire an SEO professional, there are two aspects to this job technical and marketing and the later is generally overlooked by many recruiters.

The dual function of SEOs :

  • Technical skills
  • Marketing skills

Technical skills

In SEO back-end there is a lot of coding and technical aspects. So to do this you will definitely need to hire skilled hands.

 

Marketing skills

In the SEO front end, it has a lot to do with understanding your customers, the buying behavior, competitor analysis, data analysis, user experience understanding, customer journey, funnel management etc.

A SEO consultant should have strategic, analytic and tactical skills. This is where you need a seasoned marketer with very sound SEO working knowledge.

 

You may rank in the top5 search results but don't see much conversions, low repeat visits, lower number of page views or lesser time send etc. this is because the SEO technical  is great but the marketing aspect is not.

 

If in doubt, hire a Marketer with SEO skills, you can always outsource the coding but not your vision.
