When would you use a forklift instead of a pallet jack?

Broader way  we can say at the intersection of external & internal logistics operation Fork lifter is utilized where high volume low frequency operation interact with low volume high frequency logistics operation. while pallet jack is mainly utilized for internal logistics operation operation where low volume & high frequency operations are designed. 

Utilization of forklift:

- when the pallet is up to 2to

- when we want to increase the speed, means increasing the productivity

- when we want to move two pallets in the same time (double forks)

- when we have to work outside where the ground is not perfect and the weather condition are not good

- when we want to store the pallets in block storage either in metallic racks

Utilisation of pallet jack:

- for pallet lower than 2to

- inside the warehouse

- for loading unloading trucks

- for picking activity (boxes and/or pieces)

- for short distance

Forlift is for heavy volume, long distance, and to lift it in isle or rocks.

Pallet jack is for trasfering small volume and not far from it. And for indoor use only.

Utilization of forklift is usually done when heavy loads (e.g. 2 tons up) are currently moved/transported either long distances or stored vertically in storage racks. Pallet jacks, however, are used mainly for items that have 2 tons or below.

When load lifting height is more, load needs to be moved from vehicle and to be transported for relatively long distance.

• Is when you need to lift a heavy, large load into a high spots.
• If you deal with loads of all different sizes.

In 2008 Metro Cash & Carry Pakistan was opening a new branch in karachi.Then they train us about Fork Lifter and reach truck.After that we operate fork lifter for unloading stock and also use reach truck to carry stock to department.

pallet track can used only indoor material handling purpose

insted of that forklift can used in indoor and outdoor material handling purposed with loading and unloading in logistics

I use forklift when things to transfer is too heavy that even pallet jack is not good enough

If a material is light weight and can be moved by person then it is advisable to use pallet jack.

lifting a heavy load which should be kept in a yard or gowdown and that load to be place in higher places
