Hi,

In order to resolve this situation you have to really understand the people who work for you, what drives them and motivates them, as well as be sensitive as to what is happening around them eg a bad divorce, a family sickness/death, can result in bad behaviour which can be misdiagnosed as bad attitude.

Once you have eliminated external factors, calling the person face to face, and explain to him in detail his behaviour, as well as explain to him what is the appropriate behaviour.

You should also explain the consequences of him not changing his behaviour. Ensure that you follow up,immediately if he deviates, and that your approach is consistent with the rest of the employees.

I hope that this works for you. Good luck!
