There are many ways to start finding clients as a freelance graphic designer.

·         You can also begin with small projects by working for family and friends or friends of friends.

·         Contact local businesses and suggest changes or show them redesigns you can make of their existing designs.

·         Explain the overall value this will add for to business, such as brand recognition, customer engagement, etc.

·         Become your own client. Maybe you have a business side to you that you never knew you had, enabling you to design and launch your own product.

The fastest way to dive into work is through freelance websites.

Here are a few:

http://99designs.com/

http://odesk.com/

https://www.freelancer.com/

http://www.designcrowd.com/

Some of these websites work in crowd sourcing system where multiple designers submit solutions to a project and the owner picks one, others work project based in a bidding system where each designer quotes a project and the owner chooses who he will work with.

First of all, prepare portfolio and CV. After that, try to find company free lance adds regarding your specialty based on contract through more professional sites like ARTSTATION and similar portals. (Subscribe for a job newsletter!)

Freelance sites like UPWORK, design, freelance.com etc. would be my last recommendation because clients there are often unprofessional and many of them underestimate the work and time. I don't say DO NOT go there but rather try something more secure before that. If you decide to register, don't expect a job over night. Even there, you will need some portfolio and recommendations... But you never know, after a while, maybe some client will hire you on long term and then, life becomes much easier.

Good luck.

It's hard to get clients. You need to be seen by people. Trying to upload in public websites or your social medium some of your work (remember to put your watermark for copyright purposes). And people will know you. And then they can access you.
