Is this true about sales?

It is said that after a while of working in the field of sales, you are able to develop a skill for reading people. This skill will eventually allow you to guess whether the customer in front of you is a serious buyer, or if they're not interested. Do you believe this is true? If so, how accurate is the guess? Can you develop those skills in a field outside of sales?

Most of the Sales operations are subject partially to the Guess and Speculation. Sales skills will assist the Sales-Force to build the right expectations for the Business Opportunities development or Guess the customer orientation in this or that direction should be.

Concerning the right evaluation for the Buyer intentions and desires is growing gradually in the mind of the salesman through a lot of dealings and approach the different cultures and mentalities of the customers and consumers. Accumulation of the experiences & Skills will make the Sales-Force / Sales men read the customers minds and orientations to buy specific products or require some services. Therefore, the Guess and Speculation have to be built on principles and indications which enable the sales men distinguish the serious buyer and his real intentions.

I definitely believe that you are able to develop such a skill, I would not say its guessing at all, as guessing has no relevant point of truth to a developed decision with added experience ! Clients answers and body like expressions can indicate behavioural paterns, so answers will either be a sell or no sell direction, thats a developed skill and not a guess I believe ! Thanks for Invite - Regards Kyle

I believe this is true, because I have experienced this myself.

After more than 10 years in sales, I became capable to read people (most of the time) in order to qualify if they are serious about buying my product or not. I am not sure you can do this outside the field of sales.

Yes this is absolutely true.  If you are good the 'guess' will be correct almost all of the time.  And yes, this skill, in slightly different forms, can be developed in any field where you are dealing with people.

Speculative thinking & anticipation abilities or skills can also be gained out of sales field especially for individuals directly dealing with customers or consumers regularly. Out of this perpetual exposure, one gainsvarious relevant experiences which of course include assessement, speculation & anticipation of customers needs & chioces or preferences. The percenatege of accuracy of the guess is highly debateble though it depends on the person making the guess, situation at hand & exposure to similar situations or cases. Thanx for the invitation

Definitely; True.

Every receiver in sales process is your customer, who has the need and your role is to grant him/ her satisfaction by the motive.

You can consider your spouse , manager, son, parents, friend or anyone else your customer and sell your idea successfully.
